Příběh společnosti Nike

Společnost Nike se zrodila v roce 1972, ale její historie sahá mnohem dál! Phil Knight začínal jako ambasador značky již v mládí, po absolvování univerzity a po návratu domů do USA. dostal "bláznivý" nápad prodávat japonské tenisky ve Spojených státech. V roce 1962 navštívil továrnu na tenisky v Kóbe a Japonci vzali jeho záměry vážně a jmenovali ho americkým distributorem tenisek Tiger. Tak se zrodila společnost Blue Ribbon Sports, která zpočátku prodávala z kufru auta Phila Knighta a později ze sklepa domu jeho rodičů. Později se k týmu připojil legendární trenér Bill Bowerman, který byl také "maniak do bot": rád experimentoval s běžeckými botami, rozebíral je, skládal je zpět a dělal vše pro to, aby pomohl běžcům k lepším výkonům.

Podpora běžců

Phil Knight rád běhal. V 60. letech minulého století nebyl běh považován za sport a ti, kteří běhali pro zábavu, se na něj často dívali s despektem. Hlavním faktorem úspěchu značky bylo, že brala běžce velmi vážně, a díky tomu rostla popularita sportu i jejích produktů.

Čím si společnost Nike získala takovou oblibu?

Boty Nike Waffle Trainer byly první botou, která na začátku udělala velký rozruch, a od té doby popularita značky díky spoustě poutavých kampaní neustává. Dalším velkým lákadlem společnosti je spolupráce s celebritami. Podepsali smlouvy se slavnými sportovci, jako jsou Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant a Lebron James, kteří teprve tehdy začali svou kariéru.

Nejvýnosnější a nejúspěšnější spoluprací pro společnost i sponzora byla smlouva mezi Nike a tehdy mladou basketbalovou hvězdou Michaelem Jordanem v roce 1984. Michael nikdy předtím nenosil výrobky Nike a plánoval podepsat smlouvu s Adidasem, ale po přemlouvání s nabídkou souhlasil a na šampionát nastoupil v botách Air Jordan. Značka tak dostala skutečný impuls a lidé doslova zaútočili na obchody, aby si mohli pořídit tenisky Air Jordan.
