The Jordan IV was released in 1989 and was also designed by Tinker Hatfield. The visible Air cushioning and mid-height collar remained from the III, but compared to its robust look, the overall design became lighter. The iconic mesh panels and distinctive, varied lace-supporting straps appeared. On the original Jordan 4 sneaker colorways, the large heel panels were decorated with the Nike Air logo, which was replaced by the Jordan logo on later retro models. The Four is memorable not only because it was Michael Jordan’s most successful season but also for the "stepping on" scene in the film Do The Right Thing.
