After the success of the 'Banned' Jordan 1 shoe, Nike's design team focused even more on basketball shoes: in 1985, the Dunk model was introduced. In addition to the color scheme similar to the AJ1, it appeared in many other versions, including in the 'Be True To Your School' series in the colors of long-established American universities.
