Nike SB Dunk Low 'Rayguns' - a legend from the heyday of Nike SB

Nike introduced the Dunk model in 1985. It got its name from the basket slang and means bagging, both high and low stem versions became popular. The Dunk became a popular sneaker not only on the basketball court, but also on the street, skateboarding even brought a renaissance to the model in the early 2000s. Also suitable for skateboarding, the durable Dunk SB has been part of many collaborations: interesting and even extreme versions have appeared.
The Nike SB Dunk Low 'Rayguns' is one of the most praised SB Dunks from Nike SB's golden age, the 2000s. In 2019, it returned with two tie-dye colorways.
The inspiration came from the Roswell Rayguns, a fictional New Mexico basketball team "who" were featured in a Nike ad campaign during the 2002 NBA Playoffs. The UFO-themed logo appeared on many shoes and clothes and soon became a serious fan base for the fictitious team.

Sandy Bodecker, the "founding father" of Nike SB, was known to have a favorite Rayguns - he was often seen in his Rayguns hoodie. When he passed away in 2018, Nike's skateboard design department wanted to pay tribute to him with two updated Rayguns colorways.
Both the white "Home" and the black "Away" colors are reminiscent of the original models released in 2005, but the hippie tie-dye (batiked) panels distinguish them, and the space mascot of the "team" is of course still present in the shoe. corner.
