Puma’s story began around the same time as the three-striped brand, when Rudolf Dassler split from his brother Adolf, the founder of adidas. From that moment on, the two brands became legendary rivals – a rivalry that made both of them iconic. Over the decades, Puma grew far beyond being just a sports brand and became one of the key players in streetwear.
Worldwide-famous silhouettes, bold colorways and fresh collabs turned it into a favorite among young people – from the world of hip hop to the basketball court and all the way to the latest sneaker drops.
Among its iconic models, the Suede became a staple of hip hop and breakdance culture, the Clyde made history as a basketball sneaker, and the Future Rider remains trendy with its retro vibe. Inspired by motorsport, the Speedcat brought racing culture into everyday outfits, while sneakers signed by LaMelo Ball – especially the bold, bulky models – have exploded into streetwear fashion.
Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world, forever wrote his name into Puma’s history as the face of the brand. Today, football superstars like Neymar Jr., Antoine Griezmann and Jack Grealish lace up in Puma boots, while on the basketball court LaMelo Ball and Scoot Henderson represent the brand.
On the collab front, Puma has had plenty of big moves: Rihanna’s Fenty line brought luxury to women’s streetwear, Palm Angels fused high fashion with street style, The Hundreds added a skate-inspired vibe, while BMW and Mercedes-AMG partnerships transferred motorsport energy into sneakers.
This way, Puma has stayed true to both sport and the streets: with its comfortable and stylish sneakers, it continues to actively shape urban fashion today.
